Benefits of Open Space Preservation
Ensures North Hampton has open space, forest and farms.
This effort will ensure North Hampton preserves its open space and rural character. Many communities are finding out the disadvantages of excessive development only after it is too late.
Helps manage development and growth.
Currently a significant portion of development in North Hampton is driven and controlled by developers whose first priority is maximizing development profits. The future and well being of North Hampton is not a major consideration to them. North Hampton Forever will allow North Hampton to have other options and manage development to be in the best interest of North Hampton.
Improve the Quality of Education.
If the 850 acres are developed, it will result in approximately 325 new homes. At 1.5 children per home this means 487 additional students. This increase in the student population will result in an overcrowding in the North Hampton school. It will also require a new school or an addition to the existing school will be required. North Hampton Forever will help to manage school growth and maintain our quality of education.
Keep taxes lower in the future.
Residential development typically does not completely pay for increased town and school infrastructure costs. Therefor, residential development increases the tax burden of the remainder of North Hampton tax payers. North Hampton Forever will reduce future spending and tax increases.
Preserves North Hampton's rural character and heritage.
North Hampton Forever will help North Hampton retain its character and heritage that we all enjoy.
